Rebuilding trust in the Church—one faithful community at a time.

Find a Spiritually Safe Church

The Safe Church Project exists to rebuild trust in the Church by creating visible pathways to spiritually safe, trauma-informed, gospel-centered communities—rooted in truth, dignity, and love.

Many people are seeking churches that follow Jesus faithfully without coercion, fear, or dehumanization. This directory exists to help individuals and families locate communities committed to spiritual safety, accountable leadership, and the inherent dignity of every person created in the Image of God.

What this directory is:

The Safe Church Project Directory is a community-informed resource designed to help people:

  • Identify churches committed to spiritually safe, trauma-informed life together

  • Locate gospel-centered communities rooted in humility, integrity, and care

  • Find faith communities where people are treated with dignity and protected from spiritual abuse

Churches included here affirm the Safe Church Project Alignment Statement and demonstrate a commitment to leadership accountability, safety, and Christ-centered witness.

Because Love Requires Safe Spaces

What this directory is not:

For clarity and protection, please note:

  • This directory is not a political statement or platform

  • It is not an endorsement of perfection or uniform theology

  • It is not a debate forum or review site

  • It is not pay-to-play—churches are never listed in exchange for money

  • It is not a substitute for crisis care, counseling, or pastoral oversight

Inclusion reflects alignment and discernment, not popularity or institutional status.

Our Alignment

Churches listed in this directory affirm that:

- Jesus Christ alone is Lord

- Every person is created in the Image of God and deserves dignity and respect

- Spiritual abuse, coercion, and authoritarian leadership are incompatible with the gospel

- The Church must be a place of safety, truth, and care—especially for the vulnerable

You can read the full Alignment Statement here:

We reject any theology or practice that elevates power, nation, race, or ideology above the gospel of Jesus Christ; that uses Scripture to control or silence; or that diminishes the dignity of others in the name of faithfulness.

How Churches Are Included

Churches may be included through:

1.) Multiple independent community recommendations and/or

2.) Verification from church leadership affirming alignment

Each submission is reviewed with care. The Safe Church Project reserves the right to decline or remove listings if alignment is no longer demonstrated.

Looking for a safe church or community?

Find a Church

If you’re seeking a spiritually safe church or community in your area, we invite you to let us know where you are and what you’re looking for.

As aligned churches or community connections become available, we’ll share what we can—quietly, anonymously and thoughtfully.

Recommend a Church

If you know of a church that reflects the values of the Safe Church Project and has demonstrated spiritual safety, dignity, and integrity, you may recommend them for review.

Recommendations help others find faithful communities and help rebuild trust in the Church.

Sustain this work:

The Safe Church Project Directory is offered freely to the public.

Maintaining alignment standards, reviewing submissions, and protecting the integrity and safety of this resource requires time, discernment, and care. Some choose to support this work financially so it can remain accessible to all.

(Churches are never charged for inclusion.)

A Final Word:

This directory exists because many faithful people love Jesus deeply—and have been harmed, silenced, or displaced within the Church.

If that is you, know this:
You are not alone.
Faithful communities still exist.

And the gospel of Jesus Christ is larger, truer, and more life-giving than misuse of power.

This directory is a community-informed resource. Inclusion reflects alignment, not endorsement or ongoing oversight.
